This is an ongoing position at a brand new 104-place early learning and childcare centre.

  • Location: Portland, regional Victoria.
  • Role: Responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious lunches and morning and afternoon tea for up to 104 children per day, managing a generous budget, and maintaining a high standard of hygiene in a first-class kitchen.
  • Salary: $53,865 - $71,180 per year plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities

The Centre Cook manages all aspects of food preparation and service, focusing on health and safety under the guidance of ELV’s Food Policy. Duties include:

  • Menu Planning & Preparation: Creating and preparing varied, nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Dietary Compliance: Ensuring all food meets specific dietary needs and cultural requirements.
  • Inventory & Budget: Timely ordering, stock management, and adhering to the budget for all food supplies. 🍎
  • Proactively plan, reflect, and modify menus seasonally as required, and maintain an updated Food Safety Program to ensure continuous compliance.

Mandatory Qualifications and Background Checks

To be eligible for this role, you must either currently hold or be prepared to obtain the following essential qualifications and clearances:

  • Food Safety Certification: Must hold a Certificate in Food Handling and a Food Safety Supervisor certificate. 🍽️
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC): Must hold a current and valid Employee WWCC. 🛡️
  • Police Checks: Willingness to consent to a Police Check.
  • First Aid Training: Current First Aid, anaphylaxis, and asthma qualifications, or be willing to obtain them immediately upon employment.
